Family history

My great grandmother is probably the reason why I started to appreciate fashion so much. She was always so elegant, even in her later years. As a little girl I was very sloppy with dressing up - I would wear sweat pants and t-shirts and that would be that. She would always tell me that a lady should always dress nicely. Fashion is who you are, not what you wear. Remembering this, I am always sorry that she didn't live to see me appreciate fashion so much.
This year I went to the countryside and I found a box full of old pictures. I only scanned a few of the couple of hundred.

This is a picture of my great grandma from my mother's side (my grandma's mom) as a baby, in the garden of a house in my village. The house burned down some 60 years ago, but we still own the land. I hope that one day I'l be able to rebuild it!

This is a picture of my mom and great grandma. It's from 1966 if I'm not mistaken, taken on Christmas day!

From left to right: upper row: my grandpa, my great great uncle, my great uncle, my great grandfather (my grandfather's dad); second row: my grandmother with my mom (the baby), my great grandmother (the other one, my grandfather's mom), my mom's cousin and my grandfather's sister.
Four generations of women: from left to right - my grandmother, my mom, my great grandmother and my great great grandmother

This is a collage of pictures of my great great grandmother and my great great grandfather! The pictures are from around 1910!!!

The birth of Wardrobe Remix

This baby blog is not an accidental child! I wanted it for so long that I decided to finally make the big step and create it. I am not a fashionista, I am a fashion hunter. I don't really follow trends, because I just feel I look silly whenever I try something fashionable on! So many times I will dig deep into my grandmother's closet and wear her clothes from the 60's and 70's. I am so happy that I still have some of my great grandmother's clothes and accessories from the 20's and 30's.

To keep it short for today, I'll just post some of the great vintage buys from this weekend.
(I found these photos inside the bag! I also found a machine written letter in French, which I will post sometime soon! It's just so great for me to see a bit of the life of the former owner of the bag!)

(This is unfortunatelly not a book about Greta Garbo - whom I so much admire- but of Christine, the Princess of Sweden, who Garbo plays in a movie. I am still happy about the purchase, since the book is in German and I try to improve mine every time I get the chance!)
